Why would a rabbit hump a cat?

rabbit fencing

I put my three cats outside within my rabbits fencing so they eat the grass and after smelling the youngest male cat, my female rabbit latched onto his back and proceeded to start humping him. All three cats freaked out and immediately attempted an escape.. why did she do this? dominance?
btw.. it was SOOOO funny
ROFL
the answers have me laughing about it all over again
and thanks to those who, despite how hilarious this thing is, gave me serious answers:)

Animals do this occasionally. While in male animals it indicates a desire to mate, in female animals it is an exercise in dominance. In short, your rabbit wants to be the dominant animal in the house.

rabbits are known for doing it hence the saying do it like rabbits or something. a dog will hump a couch, theres gay dogs, rabbits too i guess. when they live in isolation without other animals you would think they dont have much opportunity like its prison or something. its not just dominance, he wants to hump something, hump your leg. seen kids get bent over they think the dogs playing. you were out in the woods some beast will have its way with you if u let it.

i think the suggestions of dominance puts the cart before the horse. dominance is how you get sex, at least primevil aly, not the desire or goal of the animal. they may be linked and you dont have your way with things you dont dominate. if we want to get all psychological about animal sex.

In the animal kingdom when an animal gets on the back of the other animal is sign of dominance. Dogs do it frequently.

If you see it occur you will notice the animal getting "Humped" get agitated easily. This because they know the other animal is trying to send the signal of their dominance.
